Hotel Bedbugs, you don't want to stay there! Before spending the night at a hotel, BNB or resort, please use the information below to investigate that hotel and any complaints.
Have you spent the night somewhere and are you covered in bites the next day? If it is like that, take pictures and send them to us, and we will share them with others.
The hotel manager claims that he has never had a complaint about bed bug bites, but he didn't want to talk about bed bug complaints.
Even the best-kept hotels can suffer from bed bugs. How the hotel handles complaints and how often they treat their rooms is critical (if they can demonstrate a regular pest control program and respond quickly to a complaint, they are probably not liable.
Unfortunately, some hotels blame the guest instead of paying for an extensive pest control program (IPM). These hotels usually stick out like a sore thumb when examined.
Perhaps you are one of those unlucky people who has been bitten. Would you like to verify the hotel's claim that such a problem has never occurred in the past? Whatever the case, we will do our best to research the hotel and provide links to support any findings. This hotel bedbug registry is a completely free service.
To submit a search, type the name of the hotel, apartment or location in the search box at the top of this page. If there are reports of bed bugs, the search results pull that information from our database and display it. If you don't get any results, try your search again, but limit your search to just the address, for example.
If you can't find your hotel after searching the comments, leave a comment below with the following:
- Hotel name: Enter the full name of the hotel you want to check for bed bugs. Limit one request per guest.
- Hotel Address: The full address of the hotel

TIP: If you are staying in a hotel, use a UV flashlight to spot any signs of bed bugs, such as spots, etc. he also needs new sheets!
Hotel claim proven otherwise
Below, a guest confronts the hotel manager with evidence that he was bitten. Management claims they have never had a complaint, but the internet proves otherwise:
The hotel exterminator regularly sprays against bed bugs.
I was bitten around 4:30am. during your stay at a resort and golf club. My husband woke me up, said he had been bitten by an insect and showed me the handkerchief. His eyes began to swell. I took some pictures and video of the fabric with the bug at the front desk and they sent security to ask questions. They told us this was the first time they had been bothered by bed bugs and hinted that guests had brought them.
There were no other managers to talk to as they didn't come in until 9am. I couldn't bear to stay there any longer. My husband's eye was getting worse and worse. I woke up my kids, started packing and left.
There were no calls yesterday so I called them, I can't reach the manager. I asked for an email and just sent them the pictures. I googled the place, found the CEO's name and emailed him the photos last night.
He was the only one who replied to me via email and apologized on behalf of the resort. However, he said he was not involved in the operation. That was about it, but at least an apology was offered. Here is his response to the letter:
I am not involved in the operation of the resort. However upon inquiry our manager has informed me that the room has been closed and it will be dealt with today as we have had isolated cases of this and purchased equipment about a year ago as this is becoming a problem in hospitality establishments, colleges and other large dorms . accommodation.
I sincerely regret this inconvenience and apologize on behalf of the resort.
In reality, guests bring bed bugs to the hotel, but it is the hotel's job to ensure that these rooms are inspected and to act quickly to resolve any issues.
While the hotel seems to act quickly and apologize for the inconvenience, I would demand a full refund, ask them to pay for an overnight stay elsewhere and cover all laundry related costs to make sure you didn't bring the insult home !
Evidence of previous bed bug incidents found!
Incidentally, we found that the resort had two complaints:
- djpxxx on TripAdvisor stated "The high light in the den was full of dead bugs, a ton and BAD!!!!!!!"
- liketotravelxxxx titled "Great until we find out what happened" stated that they had been bitten by bed bugs on their hands and feet and ended up taking them home and spending money on an exterminator. They also report that management was not available.
The hotel may claim they were not aware of previous bed bug complaints, but the documentation shows that they may have been aware of it but did not treat the room. Details like this could lead the hotel to charge you.

- Use a flashlight to inspect cracks and crevices.
If you see signs of bed bugs, take a picture immediately before contacting the manager. You can request another room, but keep in mind that these bugs could easily have infected neighboring rooms.
If there are signs of bed bugs, why risk the next room being safe? You may want to consider looking for another hotel.
Keep your stuff off the floor:Store your luggage in a luggage rack or in the bathroom, away from walls and furniture.
Keep your room clean:Vacuum daily, especially near the bed and furniture. Wash your clothes and belongings in hot water and dry them on high heat.
Be careful:If you notice any signs of bed bugs during your stay, such as bites on your skin or blood stains on your bed, notify the hotel staff and ask to be moved to another room.
Before you go
Thoroughly checking your luggage before leaving a hotel with a bed bug infestation is critical to preventing the spread of these pests. Bed bugs can get into your belongings, so it's important to check thoroughly for signs of infestation.
To check your luggage:
- Start by placing it on a hard surface, such as a table or the floor.
- Carefully examine the seams and crevices of your suitcase and any pockets or compartments.
- Look for small black specks, which could be bed bug droppings, live insects, or skin fragments.
If you see signs of bed bugs, don't take your luggage home. Instead, contact the hotel management and ask for advice on how to proceed.
Acting quickly is important because bed bugs can infest your home and cause a major problem.
If you don't see any signs, you can take some precautions to avoid possible infections. Consider using a luggage cover or plastic bag to protect your belongings from bed bugs. You can also use a portable bed bug warmer, which can be used to warm your luggage to a temperature that will kill any bed bugs or eggs.
After your trip
Inspect your belongings:When you get home, inspect your luggage, clothing, and belongings for signs of bed bugs. Wash your clothes in hot water and dry on high heat before storing.
Quarantine your baggage:If you suspect that your luggage is infested with bed bugs, place it in a garage or storage area until you can inspect or treat it.
Vacuum your luggage:Use a vacuum cleaner with a crevice tool to vacuum the seams and crevices of your luggage, paying particular attention to the corners and edges.
The most important point: check before your stay!
Don't forget to research your destination, pack smartly, inspect your accommodation and take care during your stay. If you accidentally bring bed bugs, don't panic, we can help!
